The Challenge

“Macbeth.” It’s bad luck to say it in a theatre, but this speakeasy/theatre is here to break tradition and make theatre accessible and fun again. This concept is for a speakeasy where the bar is no secret, but behind a red velvet curtain in the back you’ll find a secret theatre doing the most groundbreaking and affordable shows in Los Angeles.

Macbeth needed a brand identity that embodied a rule-breaking theatre and a nightlife destination at the same time.

The Solution

Hand-drawn and off-kilter.

I used a hand-drawn logotype set at an angle to show that Macbeth will challenge your expectations and keep you guessing. The type is inspired by a poster for an 1884 production of Macbeth, but infused with an air of rock ’n’ roll.
